The Global Missions Team are a group of people who are interested in people in
their community and around the world. They meet on the first Wednesday of every month
and actually look for people to help.
Walkathon Each year on a Saturday in the spring, some 30 people will gather for
a five mile walk. This walk is to raise money to sponsor our children and young people to go to
summer campls. We have been able to provide as many as 24 children to go to camp.
Community Work Kingsview is involved with Albion Neighbourhood Services helping people
from other countries who come to Canada with no relatives or friends - and need help. Our Global
Missions Team members help where needed, from moving, to finding household goods.
Child Care Our Global Missions Team sponsors children in 14 countries. We actively
look for sponsors who will help children in third world countries go to school and receive health
care while. We also take sponsors to these countries to see their sponsored child. At the same
time a team is sent to do crafts in our
Free Methodist Schools and present the plan of Salvation. Many children find the Lord as a
result of this effort.
Somalia In 2002, our Global Missions Team sent a team to Somalia. As a result of
our trip, we are building a significant well which is expected to be completed this summer.
It is hoped that our cooperation with the Muslim people would be an
example to not only the community here in Canada, but in Somalia as well. We also hope that
this would help in the peace process and be an example around the world that Christians and
Muslims are able to work together.
West Detention Centre Our Global Missions Team has established an evangelistic
team with the West Detention Centre on the first Tuesday of the Month. Some fifteen
young men come to the chapel and hear singing, and speaking with the theme of "Hope" for
their lives. This has proven to be extremely beneficial to not only to the young men who come,
but to the members of the team.
