Pastors

Darrin Lindsay – Pastor

As the Lead Pastor at Kingsview FMC, Darrin’s goal is to communicate, model and nurture Kingsview’s purpose to “build deep spiritual friendships that encourage each other to live a vibrant life in Christ.” He firmly believes that the Holy Spirit working through healthy local churches is vital for the transformation of people and communities. A key component of this belief is shaped by his calling to be an intercultural leader. Darrin’s spiritual formation has taken place, largely through the local church in mutlicultural communities. He has been blessed with wise mentors and faithful prayers that have (and continue) to provide encouragement, challenge and support. Darrin has served in several pastoral roles at Kingsview, including Associate Pastor, Co-Pastor, and Interim Pastor during two seasons of leadership transition, prior to his current appointment.

In addition to his role as pastor, Darrin has served as Network Mentor of the Free Methodist Church in Canada (FMCiC) and Network Leader for the FMCiC Toronto Intercultural Network, a group of pastors leading ethnic and multicultural congregations. Currently, he co-chairs the Racial Justice and Ethnic Equity Task Force for the FMCiC whose mandate is to assist the denomination in its goal to embody ethnic diversity, conciliation, and deep intercultural relationships as necessary elements of the biblical idea of shalom, or peace.

Darrin’s formal education consists of an Honour’s Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo (1995) and a Master of Theological Studies degree from Tyndale Seminary in Toronto (2000). Further studies have included certificates and courses in broadcasting, community assessment, program evaluation, non-profit management and coaching.

Prior to vocational ministry roles, Darrin worked professionally for 8 years as a Certified Kinesiologist and served for several years on the Ontario Kinesiology Association’s Board of Directors. In 2004, he joined Youth Unlimited (TYFC) in Toronto and served in partnership with Kingsview FMC as Youth and Community Pastor, developing neighbourhood programs and partnerships that continue to impact children, youth and families in Kingsview Village – The Westway. He currently serves on the Board of Directors at Timothy Christian School.

Darrin, his wife, and their daughter call Kingsview Village home. When not at work, Darrin can be found with his family visiting local parks and beaches, cycling, or exploring the diverse activities, concerts and restaurants that Toronto has to offer. As a family, the Lindsays also love music and travelling. Darrin enjoys spending time on, in or by the water, reading, movies and spinning his vinyl record collection.

Sabrina Hinds – Associate Pastor

Sabrina Hinds was born into and grew up in churches in the Wesleyan Holiness or Methodist traditions. In a distinct transformative experience at the age of seventeen, she responded to an invitation into a personal relationship with God – an incredible idea but very real! Since then Sabrina has experienced the difference that the truth of the Word of God applied to her life and the Spirit of God working in her life make. She confirms its positive, practical, daily impact.

The call on Sabrina’s life has been to do what Jesus showed his disciples at the Last Supper: to take up the basin of the servant, and humbly care for others. Sabrina desires to be in the trenches helping others in need, both in the church and in the community. She enjoys serving in a variety of ways including: praying for others, visiting and taking communion to those sick and shut-in, teaching in small groups, facilitating fellowship and discipleship, participating in music ministry and preaching. Sabrina prays to be used increasingly by God in ministry and to become more connected and effective in serving her local Kingsview Village-Westway neighbourhood.

In 2019, Sabrina was awarded membership in the Asbury Theological Seminary's Chapter of the International Society of Theta Phi, an academic honor as well as a challenge to continued excellence in scholarship and character. In 2023, Sabrina was ordained as a minister in the Free Methodist Church in Canada. Her greatest desire is ongoing discipleship and to continually experience the Holy Spirit's radical filling and empowerment for serving others in ministry and in the marketplace.

Sabrina is blessed with a loving family including husband Kasper, daughter Krista and son Jaden. They enjoy being together, whether out in nature camping in the summer, vacationing with family in the Caribbean, or somewhat playfully battling it out in one form or another of Monopoly in the winter.

Wendy Salazar – Administrative Assistant

Wendy came to Canada with her husband and daughter in response to God’s call to serve Him in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic context.

She received her calling at the age of 17 and since then has served in different ministries in the church and in missionary work in her native Ecuador. Currently, she serves with her family in the Hispanic Ministry of the Church of the Nazarene in Oakville and Milton. She is also currently continuing with her theological training.

She enjoys establishing new friendships, encouraging others to develop their gifts and talents for the Lord’s service. Her motto is: “greater knowledge, greater responsibility.” The more the Lord enables you and allows you to learn, the more responsibility we have to make Him known to others and help them grow and serve.

Dean Taylor – Lay Preacher

Dean Taylor is the youngest of 5 siblings and was born to Rev. Ira M Taylor and Eileen M. Taylor. Both parents were instrumental in introducing him to the Lord. His mom instilled the value of memorizing scripture from a very young age and dad was a positive influence in living in God’s Love with grace and truth. He asked the Lord into his life at the young age of 7 when attending VBS and was baptized as a teenager during Family Bible Camp.

Dean wanted to follow in his dad’s footsteps by becoming a Preacher and Pastor, and thus he went to and graduated from Bible College back in 1980, from United Wesleyan College in Allentown, PA. After college he desired to continue his Theology Education at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Ky. He did not finish his master’s degree but values the learning he received from his Theological training.

Dean serves as one of our Lay Preachers, and as well as wearing many hats of service to our congregation. He is known for leading wonderful Children’s Musicals which the children enjoy and will have great memories of their involvement in this ministry. He also teachers in the Children’s program and leads one of our Worship Team in bringing Glory to the One who Created and Loves us, Almighty God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

His life’s mission is to know Christ and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings; becoming like him in his death, so that he may one day attain to the resurrection from the dead (Phil. 3:10-11) – just like Christ his Savior. All the Glory is to our God!
